Mieri Mobility Bridge

The concept of the Mieri Mobility Bridge is envisioning two zones, one for mobility and for more flexible use cases.

The Mobility Zone

The northern part of the newly distributed street is supposed to offer space for different modes of mobility. The bus lines M27 and N7 are getting a dedicated bus lane with a direct connection to the subway as well as to other mobility options nearby. A station for shared lightweight vehicles is made for the needs of the first and last mile, giving people quick access to rental bikes, scooters or cargo bikes as needed. A wide two-way bike lane is completing the over 10 meters of street space dedicated to eco-friendly mobility.

The Flexible Zone

The southern part of the street space to distribute is supposed to give various purposes a room. Especially the farmer’s market suffered from the space Mieri-mobil is occupying but could move now to the more exposed and central location in the heart of the square. For the remaining time, the zone could offer a space for the youth to practice and be active. The asphalt should encourage sports and playing and could be designed in co-operation with the nearby College of Fine Arts. The zone might as well function as an open-air gallery or host visitors of concerts or other events. Given the flexible nature of the zone, permanent furniture should be avoided as much as possible, the historic dimensions of the street should be maintained.
