The Lingertree

The concepts relates to trees as an urban element, and as an object in the city. An abstraction of a flower was what was seen in the first prototype as the petals of this element were saved as a canopy to provide shade and also a roof to allow activities to take place underneath it.

Another concept that stands out in my design proposal is flexibility. To be able to change, to be able to have the power of adaptation, is a great advantage in organisations as the city is nothing more than a juxtaposition of activities. That is why it was clear from the beginning that this flower would have to be adaptable, visibly and also each state would have to have a meaning for the user to associate it with the different options that can be chosen when having contact with them. I have proposed that this tree, when fully extended, should be so high that it is visibly perceived if one goes to the site from afar and associates this state with the fact that the parking space is completely free below. If the user decides to approach and make use of it, the sensors will realise that it is in use and will send a signal to the structure to lower the petals and change its state.

Making allusion to a plant, I propose these trees based on a metallic structure, where the upper arm can be movable in 180°, exactly stopping the three different modalities. As for the petals, as I like to call them, I imagine them to be made of a light material like a reed so that they provide shade, as mentioned before, but also have texture and are associated with nature.
